In a Prophetic hadeeth, we are informed that du’aa is the essence of worshipping Allah, and the most noble and blessed of acts. In this series of lectures, the speaker discusses, amongst other things, the blessings of du’aa, its pre-conditions and recommended etiquettes, the timings and situations in which a du’aa is more likely to be answered, the various factors that aid or prevent a du’aa from being accepted, the relationship of du’aa with Divine Destiny (Qadr), the wisdom behind a delayed response, and other relevant topics. The speaker, Yasir Qadhi, was born in Houston, TX. After completing a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, he left to study Islam at the Islamic University of Madinah. There, he finished his second Bachelors degree, specializing in the sciences of Hadeeth, and then went on to complete a Masters from the same University, specializing in Islamic Theology (‘aqeedah). Presently he is completing a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from Yale University. He has authored numerous works, including Riyaa: Hidden Shirk; An Introduction to the Sciences of the Quran; A Critical Analysis of Shirk; and Du’aa: Weapon of the Believer (upon which this series of audio lectures is based). He has ijaazahs in various recitations of the Quran, and in the books of hadeeth. |
